Ceder bed

 DIY Ceder Bed Frame

This weekend I made two bed frames for the kids. They are simple to make and It only took me about 2 hours to make them both. This plan also assumes you have a bunki board to put on top (or a box spring)

To make one frame I started by going to the home center and getting 3 pieces of 8ft 2x6 ceder decking and one 8ft 4x4 ceder post. You will also need two 2x4 studs for support in the middle (I forgot to cover this in the video OOPS!!!)

Once you have all your material start by cutting the 4x4 to 16" because we wanted 12" of space under the beds to fit storage bins. Also keep in mind if you are going to use a box spring with this you may want to adjust the height of the legs so you don't end up with a bed 3-4ft off the ground.

After cutting the legs I moved on to the sides of the frame. I cut the longs sides to 6'4" and the short sides to 3'5". Now we are at the part where you should have a friend help you assemble everything. Before I attached the sides I took every leg and marked them 13" up from the bottom so I knew where to put my sides. I used 2-1\2in Cabinet screws for this because of the wide washer head and they match the color of the wood nicely.

Once the sides are together take two 2x4 and cut them at 6'2". Attach them to the inside of the bed flush with the top of the 4x4 leg posts. this will give support for the bunkie board or box spring.
